World Environment Day 2024

On the occasion of World Environment Day 2024, Orissa Environmental Society organized a conference on Land Restoration, Desertification, and Drought Resilience. The event aimed to raise awareness and foster dialogue on sustainable land management and climate resilience. Experts, practitioners, and stakeholders shared insights and strategies to combat land degradation and promote ecological restoration. As part of the celebration, four distinguished individuals were felicitated for their remarkable contributions to environmental conservation.

Wildlife Week Celebrations

On 6th October 2024, Sunday, Orissa Environmental Society hosted a seminar on “Safeguarding Our Natural Heritage” as part of the Wildlife Week celebrations. The then President of OES presided over the session, with the Head of the Regional Museum of Natural History as the chief speaker. The seminar emphasized the need for conserving natural ecosystems and biodiversity through collective efforts

43rd Foundation Day

On 4th November 2024, Orissa Environmental Society celebrated its 43rd Annual Day with grandeur and enthusiasm. The occasion honored several distinguished individuals with prestigious titles such as the Lifetime Achievement Award, Environmental Excellence Award, Nature Conservation Award, and Patron of OES. The event recognized their outstanding contributions to environmental protection and the promotion of sustainable practices.

Solid Waste Management

On 15th January 2025, Orissa Environmental Society convened a meeting to discuss the Draft Solid Waste Management Rules, 2024, which were open for public suggestions and corrections. The meeting aimed to gather expert inputs, stakeholder feedback, and constructive recommendations to be formally submitted to the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change (MoEFCC) for consideration.

World Wetlands Day

On the occasion of World Wetlands Day on February 2nd 2025, Orissa Environmental Society organized a special programme at Sarabanta village in Erasama, Jagatsinghpur. The event highlighted the ecological significance of wetlands and the urgent need for their protection. As part of the celebration, OES members, along with local students and villagers from Nolia Sahi, conducted a mangrove plantation drive along the seacoast to promote coastal resilience and biodiversity conservation.

World Health Day

On 7th April 2025, World Health Day, Orissa Environmental Society, in collaboration with the Regional Science Centre, organised a programme based on the theme “Healthy Beginnings, Hopeful Futures”. The event focused on promoting early health awareness and sustainable lifestyles. Students enthusiastically took part in drawing competitions, quizzes, and other activities, with prizes awarded to the winners for their participation and creativity.

Earth Day

On 22nd April 2025, Odisha Environmental Society and Odisha University of Agriculture & Technology jointly held a seminar on “Our Power, Our Planet” at the OUAT campus. The event brought together experts, researchers, and industry stakeholders to discuss renewable energy trends and challenges. Panel discussions and expert talks highlighted key innovations, while private enterprises showcased cutting-edge technologies. Media presence amplified the message, encouraging wider awareness and action for a sustainable future.
